About Me

James DiStefano's Resume, in Google Doc form.

I identify as a craftsperson, meaning, “the same artisan who crafted the furniture also designed it right at the bench” (thanks, By Hand and Eye). The idea that design and leadership should be separate specialties is foreign to me.

The most important thing we, as UX folks, can do is work to define the vision, the goals, the realities, the constraints, and the resources around what a project is – and, by doing so, we decide what a project isn’t. In that sense, we are sculptors, seeking to find form inside a space.

(Hey, suddenly my interest in woodturning makes sense to me.)

My Birkman, Explained

"The symbols on your Birkman Map identify who you are on two key dimensions. The placement of the symbol within a color quadrant represents the degree to which you display similarities to that color quadrant. The left and the right sides of the map (horizontal axis) represent your preference for dealing with tasks or people. The top and the bottom (vertical axis) represent whether you are more extroverted or introverted in your style."

Asterik

Innovate, create, plan how to do things, create new approaches.

Diamond

Careful, concentrative, low-key, team-minded.

Circle

Keep unnecessary rules to a minimum, vary tasks, give time for decisions

Square

Under stress: self-protective, easily sidetracked, argumentative (sorry)
